My wife and I wrestle with how to raise our four wonderful daughters while I am actively in pastoral ministry. Too many times we have heard the stories of children resenting the church or their father because the church took “dad” away from the family. I find the pressure very real in my own ministry and am constantly evaluating it through the lens of what the Lord’s will is for me as a leader of my home and in the church. Here is a helpful article on pastors caring for their children while in ministry written by Chap Bettis of The Apollos Project.
This may seem like an article that is geared only to pastors, but it still applies to the church even if you are not in pastoral leadership. Look for ways and opportunities to support your pastor to fulfill their God given duty as father first.
